Washington, D.C., March 25, 2025 — Internet Works, the trade association representing Middle Tech companies, voiced its support for Michael Kratsios’ nomination to be the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
“Internet Works and the Middle Tech companies that make up our membership are proud to support Michael Kratsios’ nomination to lead the Office of Science and Technology Policy,” said Peter Chandler, Executive Director of Internet Works. “Mr. Kratsios is an experienced, thoughtful leader who understands the tremendous potential for our country if we get technology policy right. While serving as Chief Technology Officer of the United States during President Trump’s first term, Mr. Kratsios demonstrated a commitment to innovation and competition. We’re confident that he will maintain that commitment over the next four years, ensuring that the Internet remains a place of limitless possibility and innovation.
“We look forward to working with Mr. Kratsios to keep technology policy ‘right-sized’ and consider the unique strengths, challenges and contributions of Middle Tech when developing and implementing new regulations. We support today’sa swift and affirmative confirmation for Mr. Kratsios and wish him success in his role.”
Internet Works will aim to work with Mr. Kratsios on the policy priorities that it laid out in a letter to Congress last month. Those include preserving the integrity of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, and ensuring Middle Tech companies can comply with regulations regarding data privacy, online trust and safety, artificial intelligence and competition.
Internet Works’ member companies include: Automattic, Discord, Dropbox, eBay, Etsy, Eventbrite, Expedia Group, Glassdoor, Indeed, Intuit, Nextdoor, Patreon, Pinterest, Reddit, Roblox, Scribd, Tripadvisor, Trustpilot, Vimeo, Yahoo, and Yelp.
