Federal Engagement
Internet Works doesn’t sit back and wait for policy to change. We show up in the offices of federal lawmakers and agencies to create the change Middle Tech needs. By building trusted relationships and bringing thoughtful, substance-first discussions to the table, we have established a reputation as a serious coalition and a reliable partner that stands apart from Big Tech.
Our federal engagement combines direct advocacy with policy expertise to make a measurable impact in Washington.
How We Engage with the Federal Government:
- In 2025, Internet Works met with more than 60 Congressional offices and several government agencies to educate policymakers and staff.
- We executed our first Lobby Day, holding nearly 30 meetings in less than 10 hours.
- On Capitol Hill, we have shaped and supported bipartisan legislation like the TAKE IT DOWN Act and the REPORT Act, both signed into law by Republican and Democratic Presidents, while preserving the core protection of Section 230.
- We have submitted extensive comments that influenced the Trump Administration’s AI Action Plan, as well as draft legislation on data privacy and children’s online safety in Congress.
Through this work, Internet Works ensures that the voices of small and medium-sized platforms are represented in the most consequential national debates.
